Xmas Spoilers.... and a cat.

SPOILER ALERT!!

BELOW IS INFORMATION REGARDING XMAS PRESENTS FOR FAMILY MEMBERS.  DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU'RE A GRINCH AND HATE XMAS.

HOWEVER, TO REWARD YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED LOYALTY TO MY BLOG, HERE IS A VIDEO OF A CUTE STALKER CAT :D

Now, for everyone else in the world, here's what I'm giving my family for Xmas:

I got the pattern from Vickie Howell on Caron's website here. I didn't have any Caron yarn as it's expensive to get in Australia, so I used up some Red Heart Super Saver Economy that I'd had stashed away until I could think of a good xmas project to use it for.
I made it up on an I (5.5mm) hook to make it a bit larger. it's not big, but too large to use as a hanging ornament and just big enough to use as a table or mantlepiece ornament. The star at the top is a scrapbooking accessory with a split pin back which I just pushed in before I stuffed and sewed it up. And as a finishing touch I got some Gold glitter fabric paint to spiral around like tinsel. My hands are covered in glitter now, but it's well worth it.

I've managed to pump out six of them this afternoon. It looks a bit of a small gift by itself, so I might add a box of chocolates as well so they can eat some while they appreciate how crafty and thoughtful their DeeDee is.

As an afterthought, I'm considering gluing or painting on some little baubles. I like the minimalist tree look though, it reminds me of how barren mine is looking at the moment.

I've been a busy hooker lately as the travel retail sales course I'm doing is having a break over Christmas. I'm about halfway through making my granny square pillow without a pattern. I'm just continuing to do rounds until i can fold it around a cushion and meet all the corners in the centre of the back.

I love how the colours are meshing together, the variegated yarn stands out so nicely. The cushion I got was a cheap purple one from Kmart. I hate seeing people go to so much effort with cushions to have the white pillow form peeking out from behind the squares.  So hopefully this will be done by the end of next week and I can show it off in its full bold-coloured glory :D

Dee's Sporadic Tip: Glitter always drips. Don't believe it won't this time. It ALWAYS will. Just put paper down, even if you think you can glitter like a boss.
